Deadline September 5th – CALL FOR ART: Appalachian Dark Skies
South Side Studios invites artists to submit original artwork for Appalachian Dark Skies: Inspired by the Night, a juried exhibition celebrating the beauty, mystery, and inspiration of the night.
We welcome artwork in all media inspired by themes including dark skies, stars, the moon, celestial bodies, astronomy, nocturnal landscapes, nighttime wildlife, and the many ways we experience and imagine the night. Both literal and interpretive works are encouraged.
The exhibition opens on Saturday, October 3, 2026, with an opening reception at South Side Studios followed by a public StarWatch at Dam Site #7 / South Mill Creek Lake, presented in partnership with the SMART Centre. Guests will have the opportunity to explore Grant County’s remarkable dark skies immediately following the gallery opening.
Sales: Accepted artists will receive a separate Exhibition & Consignment Agreement prior to artwork delivery. South Side Studios retains a 30% commission on all artwork sales during the exhibition.

- Juror’s Choice Award: $250
- People’s Choice Award: $150
Jury
Artwork will be reviewed by a jury consisting of South Side Studios board members and staff.
