Q&A with Kandi!

Question

What's your favorite thing about working with the creative community in West Virginia?

Answer

I love the rich mix of individuality and community that I witness and experience working with the creative community. Because of this work and exposure to all the good, creative people, I feel a greater personal sense of belonging in the state.

Question

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Answer

Warp drive travel!! I want to do all the cool stuff that happens in West Virginia all the time.

Question

What's a fun fact about you that most people don't know?

Answer

I chase sunsets. When traveling, I will time out the sunset of an area, find a good spot, and wait for the display of awe. The little bit of magic keeps me going on tougher days.

Question

What's your favorite West Virginia place, park, or landmark?

Answer

The Mine Wars Museum is one of my favorite places in WV. Go visit!

Question

What's your preferred creative outlet? What art do you create?

Answer

Writing in general is a go-to creative outlet. I enjoy writing creative nonfiction and poetry. Other creative outlets include nature photography, sigil collages, and dreaming up a backyard fit for a hobbit.

Question

What is a creative outlet or medium you have not explored yet, but would like to?

Answer

I had a dream come true this summer when I got to play around with linocut for the first time. It was dreamy, and I intend to explore this with more intention and dedication in the not-so-far-off future.
