Mariah Plante

Mariah Plante is an independent theatre artist who specializes in directing theatre for youth and communities. She received her theatrical training in New York City, earning most of her performance and production experience in downtown venues such as The Tank, 13th Street Repertory Theater, and La MaMa.

As a director and teaching artist, Mariah strives to facilitate a fun, safe, and collaborative environment for artists of all ages to work and grow together. She is the owner of Homegrown Theatre Collective, a co-founder of Appalachian Artists Collective, and a current member of the board of directors at the Alban Arts Center and the West Virginia Theatre Association-serving as state representative to the South Eastern Theatre Conference (SETC). Mariah also serves as Educational Coordinator for Theatre West Virginia, and has been the Director of its Arts Education program, “TWV Academy” since early 2025.

Mariah offers private and group instruction to actors of all ages and skill levels. Through curated monologue and scene work, she provides a constructive, empathy-oriented approach to emerging artists with material and exercises tailored according each individual’s or groups skill level and goals. In 2024, she founded Homegrown Theatre Collective, through which she continues to develop curated and accessible arts education experiences for communities throughout the Southern Coalfields of West Virginia.
