About Loretta Bennett
I love saturated colors and bold, dark outlines. I want every illustration to feel like a children’s storybook illustration with little details and stories hidden in every work, and even moreso in series of works. I’m inspired by my passion for West Virginia and my Appalachian roots, as well as my passion for wildlife and fun things. I’m always looking to update my style to something that feels more “me”; If Lori made something, you should see it in the work.
Biography
Hello! I’m Loretta Bennett (but you can call me Lori), I am a Beckley native but I’m living between Beckley and Oak Hill now. I’m an illustrator and graphic designer who focuses on childlike, silly illustrations and pieces. I’ve always had a love for art and feel as though I have something within me that compels me to create. I double-majored in college for Advertising/Graphic Design & Studio Arts. I make coloring books on WV things, like birds and Mothman! I love making people happy and I try to make things for all ages to enjoy. I use mostly alcohol marker and pens, but I also sew, paint, sculpt, and I have tried many more mediums because I love to learn about different forms of art. I never go for perfect as I don’t believe it exists – I always strive for what makes me happy so that I can share that with others.
