About Kat Iresine Timm & Fruitful Wild

Born and raised in Alaska, Kat has always been a creative doodler, fascinated by how the mind interprets aesthetics and meaning. This has fueled her lifelong love of art, philosophy, and culture. She began studying linguistics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, then paused her studies to move with her partner to a NATO base in Germany. Suddenly uprooted, the birds and plants around her became her first friends, sparking a love affair with nature that would only deepen over time. While in Germany, Kat worked in graphic design, traveled extensively, and volunteered with community theater.

Upon returning to the States, Kat picked up a paintbrush for the first time and resumed her studies. She completed undergraduate degrees in cultural anthropology and studio art while working in graphic design for Morehead Planetarium and Science Center at the University of North Carolina. She then moved to Ohio, where she reignited her love of aerial arts and earned both a master’s degree in cultural anthropology and a graduate certificate in public art and placemaking at the University of Cincinnati. Her academic interests include informal education design, ecological belonging, and the imagining of more just futures.

Kat now lives with her partner in Morgantown, WV. When not painting or developing her art business, she explores aerial arts and expressive movement, spoils her cats, and tries her best to learn to garden. A big believer in the power of creative community, she serves on the board of directors of the Monongalia Arts Center, where she also has a painting studio.

Kat’s artwork is deeply rooted in her connection to our wild kin. Her acrylic, gouache, and mural paintings celebrate the curved edges, vibrant lighting, and perfectly imperfect patterns of nature.

Through expressive strokes, lush palettes, and a dreamy logic, her work aims to help humans reconnect emotionally with the wild world that, deep down, they have always been a part of.
