About Holley Morrison

Holley Morrison grew up in a small town in Cowen, WV and still resides there. Holley earned her studio art bachelor’s degree at Fairmont State University in 2023. Holley has been making art and teaching art professionally for 4 years now. She taught art for 2 years at Fairmont and taught at Glade Elementary 2025-2026. Now Holley has been an independent artist for 3 years going on to 4!

Some career highlights of Holley’s are
– Joining the beautification committee in Summersville, and Joining The Arts of Greater Morgantown.
– Was the featured artist of the month in September 2024 and 2025-2026, at “The Art Party” (located in Morgantown)
– Energy Express purchased some of Holley’s children’s books for their reading/writing program (in the summer of 2024).
– Art teacher at Glade Elementary of the year 2025-2026

Holley is an eccentric multimedia artist. Holley has been interested in upcycling her artwork as a result of being inspired by Appalachian resourcefulness. She does this by finding found objects, fabric, buttons, beads, etc. With these materials, Holley also focuses on other Appalachian craftsmanship such as patchwork, quilt making, and stitching. Holley also works in other mediums such as acrylic paint, clay, and digital art (digital art is mostly for zines and books).

Wild, Weird, and Wonderful

Holley’s artwork has always been described as strange and interesting. Holley has always been stuck inside her own mind, thinking of what to create next. Growing up in West Virginia, Holley and her family often spent their time hiking in nature. On those walks Holley and her sibling would come up with absurd stories and scenarios. Often defying the elements of nature or mimicking things they see in cartoons/animation (a huge inspiration in Holley’s artwork). Holley has never lost this touch of creating chaotic art out of nothing. She hopes that she is able to at least make one person smile out in the world with her goofy, playful art.

In Holley’s artwork, she shows how dramatic and fantastical the world can be. With a heavy influence on growing up in the Appalachian forest of West Virginia, in the 2000’s. She uses her childlike wonder to her advantage and shows what it is like to be a young person in Appalachia. Holley does this by being true to herself in her artwork, by being vibrant, silly, and experimental in countless ways.
